Class began with a three minute video about the history of Labor Day.  After students took three notes on the content, those papers were turned in, along with their Map/Vocabulary Sheets. We had a short review and then students completed the Weekly Quiz #3 on their own paper.  They were given a two-sided sheet about Labor Day (one side is a color sheet and the other side a reading passage).  It is due on Tuesday-Mr. Smith will be our sub as I am going for allergy testing in Georgia.
Have a WONDERFUL Labor Day Weekend!!!!

Class began with a one minute video over rainfall in the Gobi Desert, and students took one note of new information they learned from it.  We reviewed/checked the answers to p. 9 in the Gallopade book, and then read through and discussed pp. 10 & 11, highlighting key terms.
Homework-study your Asia map and vocabulary; review previous notes and continent map.

Students watched a two minute video on the Gobi Desert and wrote down two more facts they learned.  The Weekly Quiz #2 was returned and each question was discussed/reviewed so that students could see what they missed and why.  The study guide from yesterday was handed back out and the map was discussed.  Students had time to finish the vocabulary from yesterday and label/color the map, as well.  Please be sure to study the vocabulary and map for Friday's quiz.

As a class, we brainstormed the concept of what we'd expect to see in a desert.  Mrs. Canida took notes on the board and modeled the process for writing an on-topic, five sentence paragraph with revisions being made throughout.  A two minute video segment was shown over the Gobi Desert, and we compared what we saw in the video to our paragraphs.  Students then began a vocabulary assignment as Mrs.Canida again modeled the procedure for locating definitions in a traditional dictionary (discussing guide words, etc.)
Students were asked to define 5 other vocabulary words-we did two of them together.  The papers will be handed back out tomorrow when we will continue working.  Begin studying for the Weekly Quiz on Friday.

Due to today's locker distribution, we had an abbreviated schedule for each class.  Students turned in their Video Notes and Class Notes.  We had a quick review of the dances, and students completed their Weekly Quiz #2 on their own paper.  Students then reread p. 8 in their Gallopade textbooks (highlighting important features) and completed the questions on p. 9.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and enjoys the dance tonight!!!

On the back of their Video Notes, students copied down 5 review statements for tomorrow's quiz.  We learned a dance for Latitude and Longitude, and then we played two rounds of Kahoot! to review for tomorrow's quiz.

Students were able to view a very brief segment over Italy's Geography and Impacting Factors before examining pp. 8-9 in our Gallopade text.  While each table group worked together on pp. 8-9, Mrs. Canida had individual conferences with each student to ensure that everyone is aware of any missing assignments or areas of concern.  It was an extremely productive time, especially those who have missing work from absence, illness, etc.
Homework= Review/Study all notes, etc. for quiz on Friday.

Friday's Weekly Quiz #1 was distributed and discussed at length.  We reviewed the Geography Dance and learned the Seven Continents Dance to help us on this week's quiz since there will not be a word bank for the map portion.
After a lengthy review of primary and secondary sources, we also reviewed page 7 from yesterday and discussed the answers to the questions on that page.  We watched a three minute video on the location and climate of Georgia (Russia) and took a few notes on it.
Homework-Review notes/ dances to prepare for Friday's Weekly Quiz.

Monday, August 19, 2019

Students turned in the Geography Visual Representations they worked on in class on Friday.  We reviewed p. 5 from the Gallopade textbook and read through/ discussed pp.6 & 7.
When everyone has taken the quiz from Friday, I will hand them out and go over items to ensure mastery.
Tonight, talk with your family about the impact of Climate and Natural Resources on a person's decision concerning where to live.  What determined why your family lives in Cleveland?

Students turned in their All About Me Inventory sheets and the Class Notes Foldable.  After a brief review, they completed Weekly Quiz #1 that covered the seven continents, three aspects of Geography, and primary/secondary sources.
They also worked on a Visual Representation of The Three Aspects of Geography (providing three examples of each).  The Visual Representation will be turned in on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!!

We had a brief review of all the items that will be on tomorrow's quiz.  Students then viewed a few brief video clips about Cleveland and then began a round robin resource hunt.  Each table group was given a basket of resources and the opportunity to peruse them.  They located facts about Cleveland and Tennessee that will be used in a brochure that they will be making in class.
Don't forget to study for the quiz tomorrow.
