Bio Page

It is my pleasure to begin my 26th year in middle school!!!  I truly believe teaching is a calling, and I love the
opportunity to watch young minds expand and develop!!  
I have been married to the love of my life for the last twenty-two years, and we have two amazing children!!!! Our daughter, Mary Beth, 
starts her second year at Lee this year. Our son, JimBo, is a freshman at Walker Valley.
I will again be sponsoring the OMS yearbook, and I enjoy spending a great deal of time at our church, North Cleveland Baptist.  My husband is a deacon, and I enjoy singing in the choir.  
I am looking forward to a wonderful year!!!!!

Students were able to review briefly before completing Weekly Quiz #1 (Second Nine Weeks). After completing the twenty-five questions, students went to the Clever site on the Chromebooks and read an article about The Santa Maria on Newsela.  After reading it on two different reading levels, they completed a four question quiz. 
Report cards, I-Ready, Star, and TN Ready test results were all given out at the end of the day to our 4th Period/Core 1 Class.

We viewed the DE History Kids presentation on Christopher Columbus, taking four checkpoint quizzes using response cards. With the few remaining minutes, students were allowed to play the review game again.
Homework=Study your Christopher Columbus Notes for the Weekly Quiz tomorrow. 
Fundraiser Information Sheet went home today. 
Report Cards will go home tomorrow.

Students were given their Christopher Columbus Investigation Sheets back and the answers to each of the ten items were discussed, giving each person a chance to confirm the accuracy of each item. A new board game was introduced and explained. Time was allotted to play through the twenty questions that are identical to the questions on Friday's quiz.
Please be sure to study Columbus notes for Friday's quiz.

After viewing another brief Discovery Education video clip over Facts vs. Fiction about Christopher Columbus, students who had not finished yesterday were able to finalize answers to the Investigation Sheet and turn it in, along with the Great Wall of China sheet from the Friday before Fall Break.  Students who had already finished were able to create a visual representation of The Columbian Exchange from p. 338 in the green textbook.

Monday October 14th

Happy Columbus Day!!!!
After viewing a brief DE video segment, table groups worked together to complete a Christopher Columbus Investigation Sheet using the Understanding the Past textbook. It and the Great Wall of China color review sheet are both due tomorrow, the 15th. Have a wonderful evening!

Students turned in their Chapter 4 & 5 Comprehension Guides and received a 
Great Wall of China Color Sheet.  The front side (Great Wall) is due on Tuesday the 15th.  The back side (dot to dot) is optional.

Students were extremely well-behaved as we participated in the Silk Road Simulation in the library.  As traders and merchants, students shared a review statement (belief) with a peer and then traded merchandise (product).
No Weekly Quiz tomorrow-Colt Fest Schedule!!!

Students signed up for the latest Google classroom page and completed Check points 1-5 ,on the Gallopade website. No Weekly Quiz on Friday-Colt Fest (abbreviated schedule for classes,) $10 for armbands can still be brought in tomorrow. 😁

Welcome to the month of October!!!!
We began with a quick review of yesterday's Chapter 4 and read/discussed
Chapter 5 on Japan. Students then completed the back side of yesterday's comprehension guide that went along with Chapter 5.
Homework=Be sure to study all notes for the East Asia Unit Test tomorrow on the Chrome books.

Monday, 9/30/2019

We completed the reading and discussion of Chapter 4 pp.25-29.
Students then completed a comprehension guide that can be used as a Study Guide for the test which is on WEDNESDAY because it is on the computer and there are so many who will be absent on Friday...(and it's our Colt Festival-so we'll have an abbreviated schedule.)

Class began with a brief review. Students then completed the Weekly Quiz #6 (1-20) on their own paper.  On the Chrome books, students were able to look up a Law and Order Type Activity for Marco Polo. To access the information/activity, go to

We began the class with a quick review and then discussed The Great Wall of China.  We also began an excellent video segment on The Great Wall of China from Discovery Education.

Wednesday, 9/25/2019

Students were able to listen to an eleven minute podcast and follow along with a comprehension guide. Answers and images about the guide were discussed and pp. 25 & 26 were read and highlighted.

Mrs. Lynne Middleton from 4-H did a wonderful job today!!! The students enjoyed naming our club and electing officers!!!

Monday, 9/23/2019

After a brief review of the Chapter Three-Mongols Study Guide, we read through and discussed pp. 23-24 in the Gallopade book. We also made a graphic organizer about Marco Polo and watched a three minute video segment about his life and the importance of his travels on the spread of Chinese technology and Eurasian trade.   
We had an abbreviated schedule due to the afternoon pep rally.
Be sure to study Chapter 3 Study Guide and today's notes for the quiz on Friday.
We will be having our first 4-H meeting tomorrow for a portion of the class period.
